Mendocino Woodlands State Park – Camp 2 Cabins Rehab

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

Join HistoriCorps crew this Fall to perform much needed maintenance to Camp 2 cabins in the Mendocino Woodlands State Park. After all, the Mendocino Woodlands was given to the people of California with the mandate that it be used for recreation and environmental education. This means the cabins are used by thousands of people, year after year. The deterioration of this resource will be addressed by expert staff and enthusiastic volunteers!

Learning and working alongside expert HistoriCorps field staff, volunteers will apply the traditional skills necessary to restore the Camp 2 Cabins at Mendocino Woodlands State Park:

• Replace and repair some of the cabins’ porch floors
• Replace or repair some of the cabins’ interior floors
• Replace roof sheathing on some of the cabins and other repairs as needed
• Replace shakes and shingles as needed for each cabin
• Other preservation tasks as determined with State Parks and Camp Association
