Maintenance and GIS Intern – Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument – Build Up Technical Internship Program

Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument, managed by the National Park Service, is located on the northern edge of Las Vegas, Nevada, offering a unique blend of rugged desert landscape and rich Ice Age history. This position will be to inventory and geospatially map all of the Monument’s assets and collect data for the Facilities Management Software System (FMSS) in order to maintain these resources. The FMSS serves as a tracking tool that provides accountability for the Asset Management Program (AMP). The intern will assist with critical maintenance needs that support and strengthen coordination with gateway communities, enhance the public’s experience, but also preserve the Monument’s resources and assets. Among the notable historic resources preserved at this urban Monument is the Tule Springs Archeological Site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.
The individual will accomplish field work at Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument located on the northern part of the Las Vegas valley and office is located 45 miles south in Boulder City.
