PURPOSE: To train practicing tradespeople in the special knowledge required to preserve older and historic wood windows.
FORMAT: 5 to 10 days of daily training in an on-site workspace.
LOCATION: Victoria Mansion | 109 Danforth Street, Portland, ME 04101
SCHEDULE: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday, April 1 – Friday, April 5, 2024 | Monday, April 8 – Friday, April 12, 2024
(Trainees have flexibility to attend only one week or both weeks and will receive a stipend for completing each week of training – see below for more information.)
Training is limited to five tradespeople currently working in the greater Portland area. Registration requires a competitive application process.
Training Stipend: Each trainee who attends a full week of training will receive a $1,000 stipend, payable at the end of the week. To become eligible for the stipend, the trainee must attend the full week. Payment will not be pro-rated for partial attendance. Trainees attending the full 10-day program are eligible for two stipends totaling $2,000.
Trainees will work alongside John Leeke, a nationally recognized preservation trades specialist and educator. John was recently honored by Traditional Building Magazine as one of the industry’s “25 leaders who have dedicated their careers to the classical and traditional styles in myriad and outstanding ways that are serving as models around the country.”
