Beginning Blacksmithing Workshop

$475Experience moving hot steel with the power of your hammer swing! In this workshop, participants will learn how to blacksmith using a coal forge, anvil, hammer, and other hand tools. Through forging J hooks with decorative ends, participants will get a chance to work through many iterations of hooks and walk away with their own hand-forged objects, along with the skills and knowledge to continue exploring blacksmithing.
Workshops run from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day.
NOTE: Our Dining Hall is closed for the season so lunches are NOT included.

- safety glasses
- ear plugs/ear protection
- leather gloves
- non-flammable (cotton) work clothes
- closed toed leather shoes
- hair ties for long hair
- bug spray
- sports bottle for drinking water
About the Instructor:
Dani Spewak lives and works in central Pennsylvania (PA). She received her BFA in Sculpture from Penn State in 2018. Spewak has pursued decorative and farm blacksmithing as a way to add to the charm and function of the 1850s homestead she calls home. In addition to metal working she is an organic gardener, patchwork quilter, and environmentalist.
