Beginning Blacksmithing Workshop

Discover the fundamentals of blacksmithing in this engaging, beginner-friendly workshop! Through a series of small, guided projects, you’ll gain confidence with the hammer, anvil, and fire and learn how to shape hot steel using the foundational techniques of blacksmithing like tapering, bending, fullering, shouldering, and forming- skills that are the basis of most items from simple hooks to complex forged objects. Initial projects will be structured to build your skills step-by-step, but as you progress you’ll have the opportunity to incorporate your own ideas and apply what you’ve learned to create objects unique to you. Whether your goal is to continue on and create more advanced projects in the future, or you’re just interested in learning how steel moves, this workshop will help you develop essential skills and provide hands-on experience as you start your blacksmithing journey.

This workshop runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm
Wednesday – Sunday
Lunch is included for all participants

**We plan workshops 6-12 months in advance and make every effort to accurately calculate material costs. Due to fluctuating costs of materials, we will notify you 2 weeks in advance of the start of your workshop if the price has increased. Typically this will be a marginal fee of $10-$50.
