Iberian Summer School on Traditional Architecture

$450The new edition of the Iberian Summer School on Traditional Architecture will take place in Lisbon from July 5 – 19, 2026.
The programme will focus on the study of local traditional urbanism, architecture, and construction details. Each day, the core activity will consist of hand drawing and measuring buildings, forming the basis of the course work. This study will be complemented by site visits and workshops led by master craftspeople in traditional building trades, as well as lectures delivered by experts in the history and architecture of the city. During the second week, and building on the work previously developed, participants will prepare design proposals for different areas in the northern part of the city.
The application period is open until 8 April 2026.
The Iberian Summer School has been organised, thanks to Richard H. Driehaus, by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation, with the support of the Lisbon City Council, NOVA University Lisbon, Fundação Serra Henriques, INTBAU Portugal and INTBAU Spain, and in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame, the University of Miami, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Centre for Traditional Architecture Research, the University of the Basque Country, and Universidade Portucalense. In addition, the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation, Fundación Arquia, Enero Arquitectura, and ‘HEURE BLEUE’ Architecture will award scholarships to selected participants.
