This position is responsible for shop, tool, and machine maintenance, fabrication, historic window and door removal and install, and on-site field restoration work. Maintain a clean and safe wood shop including but not limited to organizing, emptying dust collection systems, changing filters, changing blades, taking inventory, etc., and fulfill work orders from the field and window and door shop. These may include epoxy repairs, wood dutchmen repairs, milling moldings, constructing new doors and windows, fitting and repairing hardware, installing weather stripping, etc. Independently pull and reinstall doors, taking effective notes, photographs, and templating as necessary. Working in conjunction with on-site window technicians to assist with window pulls and installs.
Minimum of 5 years of carpentry experience with shop experience preferred
Ability to use and maintain power tools, wood shop machinery, and hand tools
Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time
Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
High School diploma or GED certificate
Be able to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday (hours are flexible)
Ability to prioritize jobs effectively and efficiently
Documentation experience such as shop drawings, photographs (cell phone is fine), and detailed note taking
Flexibility to work independently and in team settings
Strong attention to detail, like really strong
English language reading, writing, and speaking skills
Be comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials (with proper safety equipment)
Agreeable to working in a dog friendly office
Ability to take and provide criticism
