Traditional Trades Advancement Program Intern – Sequoia National Park
The Traditional Trades Advancement Program(TTAP)provides hands-on, historic preservation trade skills training during an intensive learning-while-working experience. TTAP allows the important work of preserving the cultural resources and crucial infrastructure of national parks to be passed onto the next generation in a time when many employment fields are becoming obsolete through mechanization. Traditional trades in their modern form require much of the same materials, tools, ingenuity, skills, and hard work that have been required for generations and can never be replaced.
Project Goals and Objectives: The goal of this project is to recruit and train local youth to gain important personal, professional, and vocational skills. Projects and tasks will support Sequoia National Park on repairing historic structures, and follow the guidelines for the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the treatment of historic properties.
