Duty Station: Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is located on Locust Point in Baltimore, Maryland, was built in 1798 and was continuously used by U.S. armed forces through World War I and the U.S. Coast Guard through World War II. The fort played a large role in the War of 1812, when it successfully defended the Baltimore Harbor from attack. The defense of the fort inspired Francis Scott Key to write what would later become “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Hampton National Historic Site protects the Hampton estate of the prominent Ridgley family of Maryland. The Ridgley family owned the home, the largest private residence in America upon its completion, for seven generations. Today the park encompasses roughly 63 acres including the historic mansion, gardens, several farm and domestic outbuildings, quarters of the enslaved, and family cemetery. These can all be explored to learn the many stories and voices of Hampton
