Instructor Bios:
Lucas House began working metal in high school, which led to a job with a local blacksmith. He completed a degree in industrial design from North Carolina State University, with a focus on furniture and materials. Lucas currently runs IronHouse Forge located in Raleigh, North Carolina, specializing in a wide range of high-quality, hand-forged metalwork.
Matt McLean has been a part-time blacksmith and metalworking instructor for the last fifteen years. He regularly teaches classes at ShopSpace in Raleigh, NC. Since 2010, he has assisted or taken classes as a student at the Folk School. With a background in engineering, he helps students understand the science behind forging and heat treating of various types of metals.
