This six-day class is taught by an experienced timber-framer & builder, Chris Newman, and by a structural engineer with decades of experience, Tom Nehil. Both are members of the Timber Framers Guild. Students can expect to begin hands-on learning within a few hours of the first day of class. Tom will discuss design elements and Chris will guide you through using the square-rule layout system, boring and chiseling mortises, forming tenons, cutting knee braces, assembling bents, and plenty more.
EXPERIENCE: A minimal degree of comfort using tools would make your experience far more enjoyable and safe.
SAFETY: Protective eye wear and work boots are recommended. Parts of the class will be under a tent and parts of the class will be under the open sky come rain or shine so please prepare accordingly. Lunch is provided.
