This past Saturday, September 10, Preservation Maryland staff attended the “In the Streets” festival in Frederick, MD. Our partner, the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Training Center drew a crowd with their log hewing demonstration using traditional tools and methods.
People attending the festival were able to ask the woodcrafters about the process and see before & after examples. This festival was a great opportunity for the people of Frederick to learn more about HPTC, whose workshop is located in downtown’s historic cannery.

Kids (and adults) were invited to participate in our Historic Buildings Scavenger Hunt Bingo for a prize. This activity prompted many young ones to look at the historic buildings in downtown Frederick and assess their historical features. The Campaign enjoyed talking to many future preservationists!
