This class is taught by an experienced builder of timber-framed structures, Chris Newman, and by a structural engineer with decades of experience, Tom Nehil. Both are members of the Timber Framers Guild. Students can expect to begin hands-on learning within a few hours of the first day of class. Tom will discuss design elements and Chris will guide you through layout, boring and chiseling mortises, forming tenons, cutting wind braces, assembling bents, and more.
EXPERIENCE: A minimal degree of comfort using tools would make your experience far more enjoyable and safe.
SAFETY: Protective eye wear and work boots are recommended. Parts of the class will be under a tent and parts of the class will be under the open sky come rain or shine so please prepare accordingly.
Tuition includes materials and a boxed Lunch
